Abstract

This article deals with the study about one of the most important families during the
Ottoman period. That is the family of Raççaà, which settled in Tunisia since the fifteenth
century, and was able to obtain a favor and a part of prestige in this capital. It is one of the
scientific houses that gave birth to two scholars who held scientific and religious positions
such as teaching and the judiciary power during many generations, it succeeded to
establish relations of allegiance with the ruling community in Tunisia over centuries, and
was present in military events and political issues.
