Abstract
Phonetic Contrast in Consonant Clusters in the Extra-Canonical Readings of the Holy Coran Selected by Al-Houdhali The phonetic contrast between two consonants in extra-canonical readings of the Holy Coran raises a number of questions about the semantic changes of consonant clusters in various words and various readings of the Holy Coran. While the semantic changes may be important for the consonant clusters, the meanings of the words containing them do not deviate considerably from the ultimate objective of the Holy Coran. This article highlights the phonetic peculiarities of readings of the Holy Coran, focusing, for lack of space, only on consonants, and studying the role of consonants in the expected lexical acquisition.
