Abstract

The gold imported from the western Sudan region is the economic lung of the countries
of North Africa and the Western Mediterranean in the Islamic era. The richness of these
countries and the strength and weakness of their gold coins have been linked to Sudanese gold, which has exceeded its economic commitments to the level of political relations
between these countries.
Inspite of the great importance of the Sudanese gold, the way of getting it was a mystery
along with all centuries and was characterized by a mythical nature transmitted by the
Arab sources and supported by modern references.
Hence, the researcher found himself motivated to look at these different narratives in
order to reach a clear picture of the fact of silent trade and refute the foundations of its
establishment, and its consistency with the economic, social and political data of the
western Sudan.
