Development and validation of Mathematics criterion referenced achievement test for the fourth grade middle school pupils

Abstract

This study aimed at developing an achievement criterion referenced test in mathematics for the fourth level meduim school pupils. The  study sample consisted of 173 pupils  randomly chosen from the pupils of the forth level meduim school in Ain Defla . The developed test cosisted of 20 items with four alternatives for each. The content validity was used to assess the test validity inferences.As for reliability, three common  types of reliability  were used :Alpha, Livingston, and Harris,  Besides,twelve subject matter experts (SME) were chosen to set the cut score on the test using the Angoff procedure.

The findings of the study revealed that  the test developed was valid and reliable for measuring achievement in mathematics.
