Abstract

The current investigation aims at embodying the issue of the method in Islamic studies either at the concept level, by highlighting thedissimilarityof scholars and researchers in the conventional concept of the method, or the contrast of this concept between western and Islamic view or at the classification level, which did see a clear variance between scholars in the classifications of the method and the standards adopted in it, especially in the confusion between cloning western models and the search for rooting.  However, in use, the problem emerges from three aspects: The first aspect is the lack of both relevance and compatibility between the method and the phenomenon or subject matter. The second aspect is the non-discrimination between the approved main approach and the adjunct approaches. Whereas the third aspect is the constancy over the old methods and non-use of contemporary methods in the field of Islamic studies.
