رسائل الأمر بالمعروف والنهي عن المنكر عند خلفاء الدولة الموحدية
Main Article Content
Abstract
The principle of “enjoining right and forbidding wrong”
found its roots in Quranic tradiction. This article,
therefore, sheds light on the Almohads’ interpretation
of this principle as Ibn Tumart exhorted his followers
to pursue this divinely imposed duty. As Almohads
stressed their role as fighters of the faith, they ordered
ordinary people to participate in communal daily
prayers. Almohads turned commanding right into
wrongdoing as they went to the extreme when they set
severe punishment against those who were heedless of
their prayers. Besides, Almohads reacted violently to
wine-drinking. Death was instituted as punishment for
none repentance.
