Abstract
Algeria witnessed the migration of many scholars to Tunisia during the Ottoman period either for the Pilgrimage (Hajj), or to acquire more knowledge and wisdom from scholars. During their presence in Tunisian cities, they have played an active role in the development of scientific life, conducting seminars around the Zaytouna Mosque and other known institutions, offering scientific licenses to students, participating in scientific councils and discussing with their peers on various jurisprudential issues that concern the nation. Through this study, we aim to present the famous academics who emigrated to Tunisia and highlight their efforts to develop the scientific movement, as well as their leading role in establishing cultural and intellectual communication in Maghreb society during the modern period, especially in light of the decline that has witnessed the institutions of the Ottoman Empire and its inability to keep pace with the European renaissance in various fields of life.
