Palestinian Toponymy and Zionist obliteration - village names as an example-
Main Article Content
Abstract
What we noticed in the recent Gaza war on both Arab and foreign media when it dealt with the names of Palestinian cities and villages by their Zionist names and did not refer to the original name, Israel succeeded in Judaizing geographical landmarks and obliterating their Arab and Canaanite identity. Here came our proposal about the Zionist occupation and how to obliterate and distort the Palestinian toponymy. As for the importance of the research, it goes back to the necessity of fighting the entity even by not recognizing its geographical names that establish the consolidation of its presence in the region. Among the results obtained is clarifying the difference between the authenticity of the toponymy and its roots and the Zionist distortion and obliteration, as well as defining the Palestinian toponymy and dealing with it in light of the current war and the non-recognition of the legitimacy of the colonizer and invader.
