The image of the Palestinian issue in the Mahjari literature in America -The case of Pen League and Andalusian League-
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research attempts to treat the echo of the Palestinian issue shown by the Mahjar writers in America, especially those who belong to the Pen League and the Andalusian League, and to observe its various forms and contents. These writers have taken full responsibility for defending the national and nationalist issues raised at that time in the political arena, by reason of being connected and attached to their nationalism and their Arab identity despite their emigration far from their homelands.
Through the descriptive and analytical method, the contents of the Palestinian issue expressed by the eminent writers of the Pen League; Eliah Abu Madi and Michael Naima, have been revealed. The similar contents have been concluded from the poetry of Al-Qarawi a representative of the Andalusian League. Perhaps, the most prominent images of this issue are: Denouncing Belfour declaration, trying to expose the crimes of the occupation, highlighting nationalism, arousing determination as well as reproving the Arabs for their humiliation.
