The Role of New Media in the Gaza War and its Implications for the Future

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the treatment of the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip in October 2023 by the new media. The study examines user interaction with content relating to Israeli and Palestinian narratives of the war. Social media platforms and new media have served as a parallel battlefield to influence international public opinion in the face of this war of extermination. The research highlights the crucial role of the “citizen-journalist” on these platforms in breaking the silence imposed by mainstream media for decades and pressuring pro-Israel Western governments to take a fairer stance. The study also proposes a communication strategy to support the Palestinian cause based on a rigorous methodology.
