The Use of CHAT GPT Technology in University Libraries Between Importance and Confusion

Abstract

The study aims to investigate the importance of using CHAT GPT technology in university libraries and the main challenges it poses. It attempts to address the need for utilizing this technology in university libraries, its key areas of application, the concerns it raises, and how to overcome them. Literature review has revealed that CHAT GPT technology contributes to reducing effort and time by serving as tools for research, selective broadcasting, selecting search terms in databases, teaching, translation, and summarization. It also contributes to the development of open-source software and detecting code errors. However, despite these benefits, it does not replace the expertise of information specialists. It does raise several security and intellectual issues regarding its usage methods, which necessitates librarians to assume responsibility in educating and training students on research ethics and the limitations of usage within the framework of respecting intellectual propert.
