Abstract

The issue of the human will occupied a great deal of research in Islamic sciences, In the modern times, Muhammad Iqbal who discussed the issue in his research on the human self, dealt with the notion of human free will through his movement of renewing Islamic thought. This article is based on his book Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam since he presented a solid scientific conception of the issue; accordingly, in this article I examined the notion of free will by tracing it in his book noting that the author depicted his firm belief in the freedom of will which he built on contemplation of the Quran and the universe and also benefiting from the previous accumulations of knowledge transmitted in Islamic sciences and Western philosophy.
