Abstract

The current study aims to explore the policy development collection practices reality of the main public reading library-Annaba. The study was conducted on a intentional sample based in the director of the library and the head of the Processing and documentary Development Department in the same library, relying on the descriptive approach based on analysis, the interview as a main tool of data collection and observation. The results showed that the library develops its collections under a well-defined documented and written policy, through which it relies on a set of procedures started with beneficiary Studies, selection, purchase, gifting, evaluation, up to weeding and exclusion, which makes it available a diverse documentary credit objectively and linguistically for all society segments to develop the culturally, educationally society.
