Abstract
The present research paper attempts to define the concept of argumentative discourse, its components and most important characteristics, as well as to monitor how to analyze argumentative discourse, with the selection of a preaching sermon by "Ibn al-Khatib al-Ghannati" as an applied model for this study. This research reveals that argumentative discourse is a linguistic discourse that includes a set of techniques, arrangements, and rhetorical strategies that aim to persuade, It was also reveals that religion, logic, and custom are among the most important argumentative sources on which "Lisan al-Din Ibn al-Khatib" relied in making his preaching discourse.
