Abstract

This research paper analyzes one of the biggest contemporary cases, which is defining the true naming for
Prophet Jesus' (PBUH) disciples. Nazarenes and Christians were the two prominent denominations of his
disciples. Which of the two is the root? and which is the branch? Why do the Christians reject and refuse to be
called "Nazarenes"? Moreover, why do they settle and only accept being called Christians?
In this research paper, descriptive and analytical methods were used to reach the result which confirmed the
true name of the Messiah's disciples, which is Nazarenes. As it is the name they were given and known for in
the time of Jesus Christ. As for Christianity, it was only used by the Gentiles after the Messiah was elevated to
heaven and Paul the Apostle along with his disciples started their campaign. This naming was meant to
distinguish between the Christians and those who preserve Moses' (PBUH) rulings. This research notes Islam's
just ruling, and the Qur'aan's fairness to all religions' disciples, which is seen as a miracle of times.
