Abstract

Algeria knew before the emergence of national parties and organizations an active movement led by the Algerian elite group, which expressed its positions through various means of struggle, including press and cultural clubs, and we will focus our study on the role of the press in publicizing Algerian issues. We have taken as case study the newspaper Al-Haq (1893-1894) in Hippone (Annaba), trying to tackle such issues as the general intent and political direction of the newspaper, the attitude of French authorities towards it, and the extent to which it served the Algerian cause
