Abstract
Since long some voices called for Islamic sociology that aims to indigenize the
Western leaning Sociology. There have been relentless literature (books, articles,
doctoral dissertations) since the beginning of the nineties. This paper is based on the
content analysis of this literature and on interviews with some of its advocates. We will
demonstrate that there are many problems raised from such literature. Islamic Sociology
is limited to an islamization of social philosophy while it neglects other elements
(ontological concepts; methodological tools; structural analysis; perception analysis; and
finally, social intervention). In confronting the ―Western‖ sociology, Islamic Sociology
becomes a close discipline.
