Abstract

analyze the names of people and their socio-cultural meanings in the cinematographic discourse of the film "the forgotten hill" of the Algerian film director Abderrahmane Bouguermouh. Through our use of the integrated analytical method ,that combines semiology and anthropology, we will determine the identity of the name and its dimensions which have been considered as an important and fundamental element in cultural texts, closely related to intimacy of the human community and being one of the social codes indicating many of the deep contents associated with the symbolic vessel of the society which contains it; This is what prompted the director to activate it semiologically in his discourse with the aim of strengthening the contiguous representational character of the reality embodied in it with all its contents, dimensions and elements, which is also a basic reference for the identity of the name, as it saturates its symbolism and represents the dimensions of this symbolism through his deliberative process within the social interaction with all its variables and dimensions in the different periods of time that frame its semiotic process, the thing that contributes to enriching its semantic dimensions according to the modes of semiotic activation in cinematic discourse as an integral part of social, cultural, and even ideological discourse.
