Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to study the argumentative elements in popular proverbs by analyzing examples of proverbs and extracting argumentative elements in them with an indication of the argumentative role of the popular proverb and the extent of its persuasiveness to the recipient. The research concluded that the popular proverb is a argumentative discourse on the internal and external level. On the internal level the proverb has a argumentative structure in its linguistic and rhetorical structure. On the external level, the popular proverb is an argument in another argumentative discourse.
