The French media's treatment of the moral issue of (Tariq Ramadan) France 24 satellite channel as a model An analytical study
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aims to try to find out how the French media dealt with the case in which Tariq Ramadan was accused of harassment and rape, by studying a sample of program episodes on France 24 Arabic, and some interviews that focused on the event and dealt with the topic through the discussion and analysis that was broadcast on this channel. Relying on a descriptive survey method, and using a content analysis tool, on a sample of France 24 programs that were broadcast in 2018.
One of the most prominent findings of the study is the absence of objectivity in dealing with the case, as it took on ideological dimensions that made the media hostile to public opinion towards the accused, instead of leaving the room for the judiciary authorized to prove Tariq Ramadan's commitment or acquittal of this crime.
